JULY 24, 2132

18:00 HOURS

SGT. DYLAN 'STORM' PARKER

VALOR SQUAD

“Five minutes to drop.” the pilot said.

What has the world come to? That's what I wonder every time I'm out there, fighting with the Russian Spetsnaz. No idea how I've survived this far. Just a few years ago, the Russian Outbreak had just taken place. Don't know how many lives were lost. It wasn't my first time in a war before. But I made a promise to myself it would be my last. But now, just a few years after the outbreak, I'm called to help stop the world from a nuclear meltdown.

So now I'm sitting with my good and trusting friends of the Valor Squad. Our leader, MSG. Jacob 'Spyder' Westfield, Sgt. Cole 'Eagle' Akers, and SSgt. Drake 'Spartan' Williams. We always called each other by our code names, on and off the battlefield. Together, we all make up the Valor Squad.

“One minute to drop.” announced the pilot.

“You ready for this mission, Storm?” Spyder asked.

“You bet. But someone forgot to brief me when I got the call.”

Spyder looked at Eagle. “Oops.” said Eagle.

“Okay,” continued Spyder, “Here's the plan. The other day we found out that the Spetsnaz had taken over a key communication tower in New York, allowing then to intercept the radio communications. We can't communicate with Overlord on this mission. The Spetsnaz have also jammed our radar, leaving us blind as well. You got that?”

“Yeah. We're gonna be like really old men without our radar or radio.”

“Don't worry. We got this.”

“Five seconds to drop. Approaching Drop Zone.”

The pilot maneuvered the helicopter towards a wide street. But we didn't receive a warm welcome. As we were about a hundred feet above the ground, we were shot in the tail with a RPG.

“Going down, I repeat, going down! Mayday!” the pilot said frantically.

“Hold on!” yelled Spartan.

I woke up about five minutes later. Spyder, Eagle, and Spartan were just getting up, too. I checked the pilot's pulse. He wasn't dead, but he was close to it. I didn't want to leave him, but their was know way we could find him safe cover before the Spetsnaz took all of our heads off in faster than the blink of an eye.

“We were lucky we weren't in the cockpit.” said Spartan, “We would've been goners.”

The copter was sitting on its nose, making it hard for us to get out. We grabbed our M4A1's and awkwardly hopped out of the copter's escape hatch. Eagle tossed me a full magazine. A magazine is the clip filled with bullets.

“We are about seven to ten miles from the objective! We'll continue on foot from here.”

Luckily, there was a team that got hear before us, so it wouldn't just be the four of them fighting a big army. But they still had a disadvantage. The Spetsnaz outnumbered them ten to one.

Me and the team got right to work. I switched my scope to ACOG, giving me more range and longer vision to see enemies about one hundred feet away. The team that was with us, the Gamma Squad, had about ten soldiers in the squad.

“Gamma Squad, lay down some cover fire while we try to get a flanking position through the east building!” ordered Sypder.

So we entered the half ruined building. I switched back to the regular red dot sight, since I knew we were going to deal with close combat. We took quiet and careful steps. The Spetsnaz had no idea we were coming, and we wanted to keep it that way.

“Spartan, try hacking in to the Russian mainframe so we could get one quick and safe radio message to Overlord.” Spyder said.

“On it.” nodded Spartan as he took out the computer.

After about a minute of waiting, we got through.

“Valor, this is Overlord actual. What's your status?” said Overlord.

“We got fourteen men on the battlefield. We can't hold them off much longer. We need to get outta here as soon as we destroy the Russian mainframe system.”

“Copy that. We'll send a helicopter to meet you at the LZ in two hours. Landing zone about 2 miles from the mainframe. Destroy it and get to the LZ as fast as your legs will carry you. Overlord out.”

“Okay guys,” Eagle said. “Let's do this.”

We walked through the back door of the building and saw the Spetsnaz. There were too many of them to take them on, so I came up with a plan.

“Guys, I'll go back into the building and go upstairs. I'll use a suppressed sniper to clear the way in silence. When I take out enough guys, you can give the rest all you got.”

“Sounds like a plan.” said Spartan.

I grabbed my sniper and sprinted upstairs. I found a window and knifed the glass, breaking it into pieces. I set myself and looked into the scope. First, I took out a guy that began walking over to the team's position. The Gamma Squad, who were still laying down cover fire, took out 3 other guys, allowing the Valor Squad to take out the rest. I quickly ran back down and regrouped with my squad.

“The mainframe is in sight!” yelled Eagle.

As we approached the Empire State Building, I could see the jammer on top. We ran to the top as fast as we could. One hour passed, and we had to move quick.
